San Antonio Day TWO!!!
It was another hot day, but everyone slept well last night, so we had lots of energy to start the day. There was a lot of work to do, priming the exterior of Ms Betty’s house and adding the tar paper in preparation for shingles tomorrow.
Everyone worked incredibly hard and well together, maintaining great attitudes throughout the day! We finished off the day with a stop at Sonic.
Let's hear from Hunter Lindley and Logan Huyse with editing by Cordelia Large!
Everyone slept well last night, and we were re-energized for our second day of work. Ms Betty’s neighborhood has a lot of wildlife. When we got to her house this morning, we found a kitten, and when we were leaving this afternoon, we saw the mom.
Yesterday, the energy was pretty low from working so hard the first day, but today we took longer water breaks, and I think we stayed a little more hydrated and worked a little faster. Today we got all the tar paper on the roof, so tomorrow we can start shingling. We were also able to get all the drip edge on before lunch.
Everyone kept a great pace and worked together as a team.
While we did the roof work, the ground team got the whole house primed and ready to be painted. We also got to talk to Ms Betty more today and found out that she was a secretary at a children’s hospital. Also, we learned she has family in Katy! She’s a really sweet lady and comes to check on us a lot throughout the day.
We finished the day with a stop at Sonic, and that really helped boost moods on our trip back to the Blueprint home base.
Grace and Peace,
Becca Rivas, Director of Congregational Life
