Day 6
Today, we began our medical outreach at a new church. We are in Mikombe. The first two locations were closer to town. Mikombe is almost an hour out of Mbale and more rural. While the area is flourishing with robust crops, it seems a little poorer. Our patient load was much higher. We gave out almost 900 nets and saw over 1000 patients.
We began seeing patients late because our pharmacy bus broke down, and we had to rent another one. Since the clinic started late, we worked a little later and took a shorter lunch break. At the end of the day, everyone was worn out.
The gentleman that we sent to the hospital ended up not needing surgery, just a reduction of very high blood pressure. He is stabilized now and recovering. Praise God.
A humorous note. Since Ryan left, I am left to have lunch by myself. In respect, our hosts not only have to cook a meal especially for me but have me eat first so they make sure I have first choice and enough. It’s embarrassing.
