2024 El Salvador - Day 1

We awoke to a beautiful morning after a night of rain.  We were able to sleep in after the late wet night.  The first stop for Sunday was church.  This was a small local church not far from the Sus Hijos house.

The service began with prayers of thanksgiving.  We then moved into about 45 minutes of worship songs.  I can feel Kevin’s jealously already.   After worship one family offered their testimony of how their son’s health issues as a small child and his baptism brought the whole family to the church and a stronger faith.  They celebrated his 10th birthday and ten years at church by dropping 10 coins in the offeratory basket.  The sermon followed.  Numbers 23:19  and Ecc 5:4 were the Bible verses.  God keeps his promises.  Do we?

After lunch we were off to an orphanage for games, face painting, soccer and snowcones.  It was an amazing time playing with such happy kids.  I hope the kids had as much fun as we did.

After dinner we played volleyball and soccer with young men and women who are transitioning out of orphanages.  Melissa lead a Bible study in between the two. The teams were made up of Sus Hijos staff, transition residents and our team.
