The mission of the Vestry is to work with the Rector to advance our mission.
Its primary responsibilities are to collaborate with the Rector to discern God’s will, provide the required resources for advancing that mission and vision by acting as wise stewards of the church’s finances, and protect the integrity of the physical plant. Through prayer and discernment, our current Vestry has approved, by acclamation, three new vestry candidates, Dorsey Blair, Shyam Kumar, and Heather Tomberlin, as our 2025 Class of the Vestry. Class of 2025 Vestry Members
Dorsey Blair
Dorsey has been an active member of COTHA since 2015, regularly attending with his wife, Carol.
Before retiring, Dorsey enjoyed a fulfilling 42-year career as an optometrist. Upon retirement, he generously donated all his equipment to Doctors Without Borders, extending his commitment to helping others.
At COTHA, Dorsey is a dedicated volunteer, contributing his time to the Maintenance Gang, ushering, and reading during the 8:00 a.m. services.
Outside of his service to the church, Dorsey enjoys spending his free time on the golf course.
Shyam Kumar
Shyam has attended COTHA since 2022, was confirmed in 2023 and formally joined this year. He has been active at COTHA by helping to lead a small group, teaching the Co-Ed Adult formation and occasionally running the slides at Sunday morning services.
He has been married for 28 years to Julie, and has two children – Carissa (24) who lives in Chicago, Illinois and works at the University of Chicago, and Nathanael (20) who is a junior at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
Shyam has worked in the Oil & Gas industry since 1991, and has had expatriate work assignments in the United States, United Kingdom, Norway, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
In his spare time, Shyam enjoys landscape photography and is an avid collector of board games from all over the world.
Heather Tomberlin
Heather has been a member of COTHA since 2006 and attends it with her husband, James, and her two adult children, who have grown up in this church.
She has served on the worship team, Sunday School, and youth work over the years.
She is an elementary librarian in Katy ISD and enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and hiking.
