CHURCH OF THE HOLY APOSTLES

The "Stations of the Cross" is a Christian devotion commemorating the events of Good Friday, focusing on 14 key moments from Jesus Christ's condemnation to His burial. This practice allows the faithful to reflect deeply on the Passion of Christ.
Rather than observing from a distance, we are invited to walk the path with him, station by station, step by step. In Lent, when the Church calls us to reflection, repentance, and renewed trust in God, this practice grounds us in the reality of Christ’s suffering and love.
As we move through the stations, we encounter not only Jesus’ pain, but also moments of compassion, courage, grief, and hope. We see ourselves in the story: in Simon, who helps carry the cross; in Veronica, who offers a small act of mercy; in the women who weep; and even in the silence of the tomb. The stations remind us that God meets us in the midst of suffering, not apart from it.
Praying the Stations of the Cross during Lent helps us slow down and pay attention to where Christ is present in our own lives and in the world's suffering. It invites honest prayer, deeper empathy, and a renewed awareness that the way of the cross ultimately leads to resurrection.
Whether you have prayed the stations many times or are joining for the first time, this practice offers a meaningful way to journey through Lent with intention, humility, and hope.
Below, you'll find a structured guide to personal devotion, presenting each station with an image, a scripture reading, and a prayer.
Opening Prayers
Almighty and eternal Father, accept our prayer of thanksgiving for thy Beloved Son, our Savior and Lord. As we recall His Sacred Passion, send thy Holy Spirit into our hearts, we beg Thee, so that every step we take may be made in accordance with thy will and in union with Christ our Redeemer. Amen
