HOLY WEEK AND EASTER
From Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem to his crucifixion and resurrection, Christians through the ages have found that a devotional focus on these last days in the life of Jesus can have a life-changing effect on us in the present. By following in his steps, listening intently to his final words to his dearest friends and to his words from the cross, even re-enacting some of the most poignant and penetrating moments of these last days, we find ourselves feeling as if our devotional sharing in his passion leads to a deeper sharing in his resurrection.

The liturgies and devotions of Holy Week are time-honored ways of drawing nearer to the heart of God.  So, whoever you are and whatever has brought you to this moment at this time, we welcome you in our journey to a deeper life in God.

We pray that what you experience in this time and place will awaken you more completely to the presence of God and to the life that God has prepared for you.

Maundy Thursday, April 9
Family service • Childcare through 5yo • Sanctuary
Step into the story of the Last Supper.  Join us as we re-live the actions of Jesus when He demonstrated His command to “Love one another as I have loved you” through the institution of communion and washing of the Apostles’ feet. The final act in this drama is the remembrance of the humiliation Christ faced during His arrest and trial as we strip the altar.

7p: Holy Eucharist and Stripping of the Altar followed by prayer vigil

Can you stay awake for one hour?  You are invited to spend time in the garden.  The Daughters of the King will prepare the garden for us in order to remember the agony of the Garden of Gethsemane.  During your time here, you will pray for COTHA and the world.  Sign up for a one hour slot in the foyer.

Good Friday, April 10

Noon: Stations of the Cross refers to a series of artistic representations and devotions depicting Christ carrying the cross to His crucifixion in the final hours (or Passion) of Jesus. Join us in the Sanctuary as we experience this age old tradition.

7p: On Good Friday, we remember that Jesus was crucified. Unlike any other service of the year, the entire focus is on the sacrifice of Jesus.  We will depart this service in silence.  (
