Playhouse. It is a worship time geared towards children and run by our
youth. It is the type of program that I
have wanted to start in a church for a long time. The youth run the whole
service with a little help from myself. They engage the kids in music, dancing,
drama, activities and small group time. There is a bible lesson, bible verse, a
skit, and then time for conversation about what the kids just learned.
As I sat in the back watching today's skit unfold, it was
amazing for me to see the interactions between the youth and the kids sitting
in the congregation. The kids were so engaged in what was going on that I don’t
even think they realized they were learning things. I think young kids learn so
much from older kids because they are more on their level and they look up to
them as role models. Playhouse has been hugely successful thus far for this
very reason.
I am so proud of our Youth here at COTHA. I am grateful that
they give of their time and energy to bring God’s word to life in a fun and
energetic way every Sunday morning. It is exciting to see the next generation
really step up and take on such an amazing leadership role. I can’t wait to see
where God leads the Playhouse Crew next.
