Show proper respect to everyone. 1 Peter 2:17a
“Respect is showing others they are important by what you say and do. It isn’t just about how we speak and act toward those in charge. All people are created in God’s image and deserve respect.”
Respect is our new theme for the month in COTHA Kids. As I was reading and preparing to teach on the subject of respect it made me really think about the way I respect others. Often times we think people need to earn our respect but this could not be further from the truth. All people are made in the image of God and therefore deserve our respect. I need to make sure in my words I choose and my actions I take always show respect to the people around me. This can be difficult especially since I may not always get my way. But I need to choose to say the right words in situations so that I do not hurt others.
So this month we will be learning that:
(1) God is in charge of everything.
(2) We show respect to God because of His ultimate authority.
(3) If we respect God, we will also respect the people He has given authority to—especially those who lead us and protect us.
