A few days ago I experienced “Another Nugget” in my life by celebrating a rather “biggie” birthday!!!! By nugget, I mean, special like gold, silver, platinum, you know the special metals. I have to laugh at myself because the reality is, I MAY be getting close to the “golden years”, my hair is silver and or platinum and I enjoy the most “GOLDEN” friendships that any person could hope or pray for!
I must admit though, I do have a problem with birthdays because it feels like just yesterday that I was 18 without a care in the world. It’s very weird because truly, I feel just the same now! I’ve often said I think that is our soul within us….. its timeless! I can’t help but wonder if I’ll feel the same when I’m 90? 100?
The old saying “You’re older and wiser” does apply though. That’s one good thing about getting older. Hopefully, you learn from your mistakes and make better choices. Another old saying “ insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome” also rings so true!
As the years come and go, I do find that the “older, wiser” idea fits and I TRY to avoid the Insanity concept of making the same mistakes over and over.
I’m SO VERY BLESSED and SO VERY THANKFUL for my family and friends who “do life” with me! They too are BEAUTIFUL NUGGETS in my life!!!!! JUST LIKE PRECIOUS GEMS! Our hearts are encouraged, they are knit together in love.
From last Sunday’s sermon,
Colossians 2: 2-3
2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, 3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
