I am pleased to announce that Sean Nelson has accepted the call to become our part-time Pastor of Discipleship at COTHA. He began his ministry among us on Monday, March 31st. Sean was raised in Detroit Michigan and moved to Houston as a young adult. He studied Biblical counseling at the College of Biblical Studies and graduated from the DeVos Urban Leadership Initiative. Sean has over ten years experience in ministry ranging from non-profit leadership to youth ministry. Sean has a heart for Jesus and brings with him an array of stunning gifts. Sean describes himself as "a minister by calling and a friend by nature." He came to faith in a church where his father was the pastor and recognizes that without those experiences he would not have the heart for people of "all sorts and God's Word" like he does now. Sean is married to Flor Nelson and they have five wonderful children: Benjamin 13; Emily and Julie 13; Jaden 7; and Adonaiya 2 (who Sean says is going on 20). In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, and mentoring young adults. Please take the opportunity to welcome Sean, Flor and their children as his ministry begins. Sean will help us live more fully into being a place that "violates the status quo with biblical truth and seeks to connect the disconnected to the COTHA family." |
