Just days ago we celebrated the one “LOVE” day of the year Valentines Day! It’s amazing how much attention that day brings in the way of cards, flowers, candy and gifts. When I was a kid, it was a day of popularity! If you got a whole bunch of valentines in a shoe box that you decorated with pink and red construction paper, it was a pretty sure thing you won the popularity contest.
I’m pretty sure that when Jesus talked of love and told us to “love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength,” Deuteronomy 6:5 that He was talking of a MUCH BIGGER and GREATER LOVE.
One act of love is Obedience. In fact by being obedient to God, we are loving Him back and giving Him the gift of self. What greater gift than to say to God, “Here I am Lord, use me.”
When we have that kind of love in our hearts, we do everything differently because we are reflecting God’s love. We are happier; we’re more peaceful; we pray more and most likely spend more time in the word. In addition, we treat others with more love, understanding and patience. For me, that is one of the biggest rewards because the love usually bounces back tenfold. That’s when we TRULY see love in action! Love perpetuates itself.
Let’s show God just how much we love Him by loving one another…… PAY IT FORWARD…. I dare ya!
1 Chronicles 16:34
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; His love endures forever.
