Have you ever wondered why you have never encountered a
burning bush, which speaks with the voice of God? Most of my life I have longed for that
audible voice to confirm the path I walk is truly His plan. However, in the last few weeks I have been
released of this burden.
I am beginning the fourth week of leading Priscilla Shirer’s
Discerning the Voice of God. God has
spoken to me all my life and will continue to speak to me as long as I am
willing to listen. As a believer, I have
the Holy Spirit living inside me and guiding my steps. Don’t confuse this for a conscience. Even an atheist has morals and will make
choices based on their knowledge of right and wrong. The Holy Spirit’s guidance is unique for
me. I am convicted for choices which
fall outside God’s will for my life; options that may be perfectly acceptable
for other yet not for me. How cool is it
to have this ever-present beacon in my life!
The people of the Old Testament did not have this gift. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in us only
after the resurrection. The way God
communicated to them was through supernatural occurrences – pillar of fire, thunder
or roar of seas. It was only
external. How blessed we are to have Him
so close to us.
The study is also available in a book option, which I highly
recommend to anyone wrestling with this idea.
You can also check out this article containing many of the same principle
ideas. http://www.todayschristianwoman.com/articles/2013/july/hearing-gods-voice-101.html
I look forward to hearing how God has most recently
communicated with you!
