Disciples Making Disciples

 Easter @ COTHA

Tenebrae
Wednesday, March 27, 7:00 p.m. • Family Service, Childcare through 4 yrs.

Latin for “darkness” or “shadows” this service highlights the great battle between good and evil as we walk through the story of Jesus’ final days.  With a combination of spoken word, storytelling through music, and visual liturgy we step into the drama of the crucifixion; experiencing loneliness and abandonment with the hope that God has overcome it all.

Maundy Thursday
Thursday, March 28, 7:00 p.m. • Family Service, Childcare through 4 yrs.

Step into the story of the Last Supper.  Join us as we re-live the actions of Jesus when He demonstrated His command to “…Love one another as I have loved you…” through the institution of communion and washing of the Apostles feet. The final act in this drama is the remembrance of the humiliation Christ faced during his arrest and trial as we strip the altar.

We will share a meal of light Mediterranean fare, Engage in serving one another through foot washing, and share in the Eucharist.

The Watch
Thursday, March 28, 7:00 p.m. - Friday, March 29, 12:00 p.m.

Can you stay awake for one hour?  You are invited to spend time in the garden.  The Daughters of the King have prepared the garden for us in order to remember the agony of the Garden of Gethsemane.  The garden, a place of soul searching prayer, will become the empty tomb on Sunday.  During your time here, you will pray for members of COTHA and the world.  Sign up for a one hour slot in the foyer.

Good Friday Service
7:00 p.m., childcare through 4 yrs.
On Good Friday, we remember that Jesus was crucified. Unlike any other service of the year, the entire focus is on the sacrifice of Jesus.  We will depart this service in silence.

Good Friday Children’s Program
7:00 p.m., Children 5 yrs. through 5th grade
Children ages 5 years – 5th grade will gather in the Kids of the King Theatre for their own Good Friday experience.  They will learn the Salvation Story and take home reminders of what Easter is all about.  Children will leave ready to celebrate Easter morning and all that Jesus has done for them.

Easter Vigil
Saturday, March 30, 8:00 p.m. •  Childcare through 4 yrs.
The lighting of the fire and the Easter Candle both proclaim God's saving activity in the world. The Prophesies that are read point the way to the coming of Christ the Savior. The renewal of baptismal promises point to our personal involvement with Christ who brings new life to his Church and his people. The Liturgy continues with the celebration of the Eucharist where we celebrate our rising again with Christ.
