We live in a world where such advice is significantly important. There are many people in our world who have taken the truth of God's Word and made it into something that resembles the Gospel, but has twisted it in such a way that the power is wrung out of it. There are others who preach a good game but do not live what they proclaim. In this context, James word's ring out with challenge and truth.
This is going to be a fun series to walk through with the people of COTHA. There are five chapters and so we will take five weeks. My prayer is that all of us will be equipped to live more deeply into what we proclaim: that Jesus is both our Lord and Savior.
In the meantime, we're finishing up the series on Paralyzed this weekend with the topic "Choosing Life over Paralysis (with a celebration of Mother's Day). The theme for this Sunday is moving beyond resentment and guilt (and how to do that). Then we will take a look at the topic "Real Church: Reclaiming our Identity" on Pentecost Sunday.
So the series on James is three weeks away but I can already tell it will be a great series that can give us all practical help and advice on living a 21st Century Disciple's Life. I'm really looking forward to the next several weeks!
